Hellboy Sketch

For my first project I had to create a poster for a fictional event. So I used my skills to my advantage and drew a sketch to start off my poster development. I wanted my fictional event to be an event called "Comic Con" (Where Comic book characters are celebrated) and one of my favourite fictional characters is a Demon/man called "Hellboy", so I found a small toy and created a sketch from that.
Hellboy Print

I didn't want my poster to be just a sketch so I decided to try it out as a lino print, seen as the Hellboy comics are quite dark I thought I would use black paint.

Hellboy Experimentation

My plain black Hellboy print looked too dull for my liking so I decided to experiment with a variation of different techniques such as screen printing; this piece includes red tissue paper. Which is relevant because Hellboy is a red demon/man who is supposedly from the nether world.

My Hellboy final piece

For my final piece I added my lino print to a flame I created to add texture and i kept it black and white so the white outlines would stand out. Then to finish it off I added typography with information about the event to make it look like a real promotional poster.
Cheetah - Experimenting with acrylic

In one of my projects I had to experiment with different types of mixed media's and I created this one to experiment with acrylic and also to practise form and blending with colours.

Abstract Girl - Experimenting with colour

The reason behind creating this piece was to experiment with the use of colour.
The Inspired Bird - Experimenting with Ink

This artwork was inspired by Abby Diamond. I created this bird to experiment with Ink, while I was experimenting with the substance I quickly realised that Ink was ideal to splat and manipulate around of the page.
Octopoda - Drawing with formal elements

The purpose of this sketch was to create another example of drawing with line and I decided to try out a portrait of an animal (which is of course an octopus) instead of a human to keep it more interesting.

Pug - Experimenting with form

I sketched this from looking at my neighbour’s dogs. What I like about this piece is that it looks like a dramatic and serious portrait by how he (the pug) has his head tilted to the side, staring into the distance.
Practising Portraits

These sketches was created to practise drawing portraits and the human life form.

Bloom - Creating an Album cover

In this project I had to create an album cover for a song that I liked. The song is quite a warm and sweet song so I created an album based on that warm, fuzzy feeling. I used warm colours with a landscape background, to create an image that will make you feel peaceful and calm.
My Theatre poster - Snow White

This poster was for my work experience where I had to create a poster for my local theatre to promote their upcoming Pantomime called "Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs". To make this poster I first researched into Snow White and all of the characters. I had noticed that the Witch in Snow White was the reason for all the bad events in the Pantomime but no one has ever really focused onto her so I decided to make the focus all about her in my poster. I didn't want my poster to look too scary as the Pantomime is for young children but I did want my poster to look dark and magical to resemble the Witch and her magical witchery.  So to start off I used cold coloured chalk (such as; blue and white) to create the witch's face and then I made a whole page filled with a dark coloured pattern. I scanned them onto the computer to blend them together on Photoshop and added typographic information about the event to inform the audience to finish it off.

Lost

This painting was for my Identity project where I had to explore how different artists express Identity. This was inspired by KwangHo Shin's paintings, he used oil paints with calm mixed colours but in my version I decided to use bold and bright mixed colours to resemble my artistic personality.

Fading Persona

This painting was also for my Identity project where I decided to experiment with watercolour instead of acrylic paint. My painting is inspired by Marion Bolognesi. I discovered while creating this piece that the main facial features can resemble a lot of a person’s Identity, such as; ethnicity and race.

Circlism Self Portrait

For my Identity project I created a circlism self-portrait inspired by Ben Heine as experimentation. The artist made his circlism artworks on computer but I wanted to try out a different style and create mine with pencil, I made sure to darken some of the edges of the circles to create a more detailed effect.

Creating a logo

For this project I had to design a brand for an art distribution company that had to attract traditional and modern artists. So for this part of the process I started to sketch out a draft for a few designs. I wanted to do my logo using traditional methods to start off with as well as graphic methods so it would attract both traditional and modern artists.

Developing my logo

I needed to develop my logo further (which was the middle logo in the sketches) by removing the border so it wouldn't look too heavy and also the dots because they didn't have any meaning or extra effect to them. I decided to try out different fonts to go with my logo, I needed one that stood out to catch the audiences eye. Which is why I decided the top right font.

Refining my logo

I decided to change some details from my logo to attract traditional artists as well as modern by adding a pattern sketch I made with pen and paper. I thought it looked better than plain lines, giving a more unique touch.

My Final Piece

This is my final outcome, I decided to change my logo to a cream colour to stand out from the watercolour tin and I chose to use a watercolour tin to put my logo on because mu logo still looks quite modern and the tin is to attract the traditional artists and to show that the company isn't just for modern artists.
